Fragments of Ash by the New York Times best seller Katy Regnery is yet another amazing installation to the modern fairy tale collection.

The story opens with the death of the mother of young woman Ashley Ellis. Ashley always had a complicated relationship with her mother,Tig,a supermodel whose career ended due to drug abuse. Being a  bastard child Ashley is rejected by Tig's parents,but receives the support of Gis. After Ashley turns 18 a shocking tragedy strikes,when,Tig dies of drug overdose. Never being too close to her stepfather Masier Raumann and her stepbrothers. She now was left entirely to the mercy of them. 

Ashley slowly becomes suspicious of her mother's death and determines to unfold this dark secret. Ashley's shock veers to fear,when her stepfather,the the head of a violent crime family tells,her that he has plans to arrange a marriage for her after she graduates from high school. Desperate, she turns to Gus and his partner Jack for help .They send her to Jack's country house,where she meets Julian Durchames,a former service Agent but now a glassblower,although initially way of Ashley he is unable to deny his attraction to her,and their cautious friendship turns into a steamy romance. Though Ashley's world turns into fairy tale romance at the country house. She is still haunted at her heart by the fear of being caught by Raumann. She doesn't have enough time to think of a plan to escape the clutches of his step-father. Her happy days will only last till Raumann eventually get to her life. Ashley,adamant to fight Raumann back  with the help of Gus,Jack,Julian and Agent Simmons makes up a plan to trap Raumann. 

The story finally reaches a brilliantly crafted climax and tears roll down my eyes as I reach the end of the book. All I can say is that from beginning till the end it is total perfection. The characters are dynamic and skillfully sketched. The narrative is anchored by Ashley,the place is impeccable -the fast paced chapters alternating between Ashley's and Julian's first person P.O.V. along with Tig's journal entries provides critical insights into each characters personality and background.

This books keeps you hooked from the very first page. It is also very intricately detailed. A somewhat dark retelling of our favourite fairy-tale story 'Cinderella' , however it has more wonderful twists and turns which makes the plot rather engaging.

It will definitely take you on a heart wrenching and breath taking ride.

Definitely a must read.
