FAERIE TALES from the WHITE FOREST by Danika Dinsmore

Recently I stumbled across these books in goodreads and the author was kind enough to send me a copy for the review.

This book contains 3 stories.

      #Book 1

Brigitta of the White Forest

Brigitta is a young Water Faerie from the village-nest of Tiragarrow. She's confused, moody, and anxious about going through "The Change" as she doesn't see how destiny markings on her wings should determine her life's path. A few days before the annual Festival of the Elements, Brigitta is flying an errand with Himalette, her tag-a-long sister, when a mysterious curse turns everyone in the White Forest to stone -- except for the two of them. The sisters have no idea why they were not cursed, but they do know if they don't turn everyone back in time for the festival rituals, the Hourglass of Protection will run out and so will its protective field around the forest.

     #Book 2

The Ruins of Noe

Brigitta’s adventures continue when the balance of the White Forest is disturbed and the Elders lose contact with the Ethereals. Against their advice, High Priestess Ondelle asks Brigitta to accompany her to the old faerie ruins of Noe to find a way to reconnect with the Ancients.

What they discover when they arrive is something they never learned from any faerie tale. Why had this dark secret been kept from them? Why in the name of Faweh had the Ancients left some faeries behind?

Brigitta and Ondelle are caught in a dangerous feud between two factions of feral faeries whose leaders will stop at nothing to access what little sorcery Noe has left.

                 #Book 3

Ondelle of Grioth

“You cannot presume what our departed High Priestess would say or do at a time like this.”

“Yes, I can!” cried Brigitta … “I can, I can. I carry her here.” Brigitta pounded on her chest. She burst into sobs, and Elder Dervia wrapped her arms around her, pulling her into her bosom.

Thanks to Ondelle’s parting gift, Brigitta is now a rare deodyte, a faerie bound by two elements. But she has little energy to explore, let alone enjoy, her new air element, as she is also now haunted by the memories of her dead High Priestess. When she tries to learn more from the Air Faeries, she is met with suspicion. When she reveals her distress to the Council of Elders, they dismiss her from her Apprentice duties. And when the memories that plague her convince her she must seek an audience with the Eternal Dragon to reconnect her forest with the Ancients, she knows she must leave her home once again.

Driven by what she knows she must do, Brigitta steals the High Priest’s scepter and, along with the help of Jarlath and Minq, makes her way to Forever Beach. The problem: someone else has gotten there first, and the Ancients are now under his command.

This omnibus tells the tale of a young faerie who is yet to receive her destiny. Brigitta feels useless in her own skin, she is not good at anything it seems and while others of her age has already got their destiny mark she is yet to receive anything. She thinks that she is probably doomed to a boring life. She could not be further away from the truth. While travelling along the white forest suddenly something unique happened and now she and her little sister is the only two beings who could change anything but can they change it at all?
Brigitta's story begins from there and it is endless. Her life is filled with adventures upon adventures, mystery, extraordinary findings, loss, self discovery and ofcourse saving the world quest.
Beautifully and poignantly written these tales are sure to win over a child's heart. Brigitta is a character with whom I believe every child will be able to connect as we all have been to that place where we stand between something known and something unknown, afraid to take the plunge, not having much faith in our capability, lost about future ,but it only takes a little bit of trust on ourselves and a little courage to achieve something one never thought could be achieved by them.
Anyone in love with fantasy should go with these. Believe me you won't be disappointed.
