The Movement of Crowns Series - Nadine C. Keels

It has been so long since I've read a fantasy without any magic or witchcraft or other supernatural element in it that I've forgotten how refreshing it feels to read them.
Author Nadine Keels does a wonderful job of bringing a world full of chivalry, warriors, kingdoms, honour, true love, wisdom in focus.

The Movement Of Crowns

"Is it the perfect or the worst time for the kingdom to…change?

The nation of Diachona rejoices as the king’s daughter and heir, Constance, turns twenty. Yet, not everyone approves of Constance’s desire to sit on the National Council: a Council run solely by men.

What’s more, oppressive threats from a neighboring, powerful empire are rousing the people’s fears. Amid rumors of war and personal doubts about her future, Constance suspects that her growing love for one Commander Alexander may be ill-timed. Especially if this is the end of the kingdom as they know it…"

The Movement of Rings

"What lies deeper than fear?

The Mundayne empire has prospered under the rule of King Aud, a ruthless man of war. Naona, a spirited imperial servant who holds Aud’s favor, enjoys pulling pranks on her peers around the king’s estate. But the time for laughter spoils when the citizens of Munda begin to oppose the taxes that pay for Aud’s wars.

After meeting the princess of Diachona, Naona must choose between remaining loyal to her king and becoming another nation’s ally. With the rise of unrest in Munda, how can Naona’s heart survive intact: intact enough, even, for a chance at love with a foreign man?"

 The Movement of Kings

"The nation might have longed for his coming rule, but will they now regret it?

The charge of the Eubeltic Realm has been passed over to a young monarch known for his brilliance and brooding ways—as well as the “way” he has with vibrant ladies at court. Yet, from a political and cultural standpoint, the Realm has entered uncertain times.

Their inexperienced king is faced with the nation’s domestic and colonial crises, the bereavement of his family, and his curious attraction to a councilman’s modest daughter. Could everything in the king’s untried hands be on the verge of falling apart?"

I'm sure that this series will  appeal to lots of feminists as it also contains female empowerment and very strong female protagonists.

A beautiful work of fantasy, these stories reminds us that all fantasy may not be dark. When I was reading it I felt that as if I've been transported to my childhood, filled with stories of princesses, prince, castles, kings, queens and every other  elements which come alive inside those books and  in the over-imaginative mind of a child.

Another fact which I find very adorable is the way the characters involved romantically react to each other. Their chemistry is very palpable but on the other hand it is not palpable to that extent that it overshadows the plot. This balance is something which is not found much in most fantasy-romance book. The authors either choose to proritirise the romantic aspect or the fantasy aspect.

Overall I liked this series, although I'm not much of a fan of this genre but I won't mind giving it a go.
