Good Enough For Love - Wendy Lee Davies
It's been a long time now since I've read a soul satisfying contemporary romance based on a small town with no ups and downs or crazy plots or intercourse scenes.
I must say that 'Good Enough For Love' has now become my one of the best realistic, small town , sweet romance read.
"Renovating a country hotel challenges everything Amber knows…about family and about love
When Amber Hutchinson inherits a country hotel, she wants to sell it and move on. The money she’ll earn will secure her future, even if living in the country while renovating a hotel never featured in her plans.
Zach Wentworth, a local sheep farmer, wants to do the right thing. When he comes across a woman stuck in the hotel window, he naturally tries to help.
Sure, Amber knows their sizzling attraction won’t last. It never does, because she’s never been good enough for anyone to love.
Without the hotel, Willow’s Bend is likely to die a slow death, so Zach does whatever he can to secure his town's future. But doing the right thing might mean risking his heart.
With the town eagerly watching their every move, Amber and Zach must choose between protecting their hearts and taking a chance on love."
Amber is a fiercely determined and independent woman. She neither needs anyone's help nor wants it. Amber has learnt very early in life that there is nothing called 'free lunch', everything has a price and one day or the other it would come back full circle to bite her back. She is fine being her own, thank you very much. After being abandoned by her mother when she was 16 , she has learned not to trust anyone. She knew one thing, she only has herself, no one else us going to look out for her.
Amber is fine being her own, she knows love or marriage or dreams of a family is not something which is her's to have. The only thing she wants is to find a small cottage in some friendly town where she would be accepted and can call her home.
Zack knew one thing for sure, these city girls never stays. The small town becomes too boring for them after a few days. He has got his broken heart to prove that. But he is inexplicably drawn to Amber, her determination, her stubbornness, her spirit, her smile. He wants her to leave town but at the same time he wants to hold her tight and never let go.
What is a guy to do in these situations?
When the girl seems hell bent on moving away after she has finished her goal?
Zack is a farmer and he will never move away from his hometown. And Amber seems too determined to go. How can a relationship between them happen?
Its just too much of an impossibility.
Amber is running. She is running from love, and her feelings involving Zack, for whom she is falling. But she isn't even conscious of that until her best friend Zoe points that out to her.
Will Amber let her fears win or will she be able to let them go this time and grab hold of the happiness that waits for her?
Will she leave again to find a place where she belongs?
But Willow's Bend already feels Home.
Maybe she has finally found a place where she belongs.

Author Wendy Lee Davies did a splendid job of capturing the true essence of Australian country side on papers in vivid details.
The readers can feel the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the small town with it's cheerful and well wishing people.(although a bit too nosy at times but thay mean good so that's okay)
There isn't much description of the city and city life as compared to the country side. But I believe that a country's true essence can always be found in it's coubtry side and among the people living there not in cities with their high rises. If someone wants to understand a country a person definitely should visit the country side.
Along with this the narrative technique of this book is also remarkable as it connects the readers with the characters seamlessly making it a pleasurable read.
The internal narrative and commentary of both Amber and Zach is hilarious and emotional at times which also helps the readers to understand their characters in more depth.
The descriptions of each incident and scene is so detailed and picturesque that it makes the readers visualise the picture effortlessly.
I loved how the author developed the relation between the two slowly and steadily without any loop holes. The slow burn is worth every wait. It is beautiful how their feelings develop slowly. This only makes their love story more realistic.
An enduring love which develops with time and can cross any obstacles that comes in it's way.
An eternal and true bonding between two souls.
Above all this is a very sweet , emotional and lovely tale of hope, forgiveness and letting go of the past regrets and sorrows.
"...an awakening. A cool breeze on a scorching hot day, the expansive stars in the Willow's Bend sky all wrapped up into one defining emotion. Hope. For a better, brighter future surrounded by love. There was confidence too. And determination."
This aspect of this novel is what makes the readers identify themselves so closely with the protagonists. I'm sure everyone makes mistakes or has something in the past which they would love to undo, just like the protagonists in this novel. But we can not change the past. We can only move forward. To a brighter future becoming a more better human being along the way.
That is the best that anyone can strive to do.
