Ruined,a novel - Paula Morris

Rebecca is a city girl but when her dad gets tranferred to Japan for six months she is forced to go live with her aunt in New Orleans. She could not feel more out of place. High schol drama ensures filled with snotty, rich girls who treat Rebecca as if she is invisible. Only the gorgeous, rich and unavailable Anton Grey gives Rebecca the time of the day. But she is skeptical about his motives behind befriending her. Among these ups and downs of teenage life one night in Lafayette cemetery Rebecca makes a new friend  who is sweet and shrouded in mystery. However there is just one problem,Lisette is a ghost.A ghost who holds deep, dark secrets. Secrets which can cause problems for lots of those high up society people living in New Orleans. A mysterious and spine chilling tale which would make the readers poised at the edge for more. The plot and story line is excellent and very well made. The characters are also very realistic and detailed.
Despite these 'Ruined'  lacks a few things. Such as Rebecca is not a well developed character. Her character starts off great but in course falls flat, which is true for most characters. As the book reaches its end, they become more flat. There isn't much psychological exploration done either. The readers gets glimpses of their personalities but they are unable to comprehend it or grasp it fully. I personally think that it had lots of potential to become a great book. As the plot is one of the most interesting one I've read in a while, only if the characters were more developed it would have been perfect. Still 'Ruined' is a very good book. It does not have the traditional terror or the horror of a ghost story in it,so hardcore fans of ghosts would probably be disappointed. Yes, Lisette is a ghost but it would perhaps be better described if I say - 'she is a Girl who is a ghost'. See the emphasis on girls. But if you like mystery with a bit of teenage drama and supernatural thrown into the mix, then you will be perfectly satisfied with 'Ruined' by Paula Morris.
