Ghost knight - Cornelia Funke

Jon never wanted to go to the boarding school in Salisbury with it's centuries old chapel and stories of vengeful ghosts and brave Knights. Yet,his mother sends him there for his own good  (according to her). Getting threatened by ghosts on horseback as soon as starting school  makes him terrified. It seems that they are after him for his life. Meeting Ella ,the prettiest girl in school and also the most level headed seems to be his salvation. Ella's grandmother is a ghost expert and Ella herself isn't much far behind. By her suggestion Jon calls the knight Longespee for his protection as he swore an oath to protect any person who needed his help . Yet, Longespee himself seems drowned in darkness and misery. He is trapped as his murderer did something terrible due to which he is unable to go to his beloved wife, who waits for him even after 800 years. Two lovers separated by the ploy of Longespee's murderer  even after centuries. Now it is upto Jon and Ella to right a wrong done hundreds of years ago. Can they do it ? While also fighting those vengeful ghosts?
A fascinating tale of Mystery, friendship, love , heartbreak, understanding and growing up. The comic elements and funny way of storytelling also adds to the allure of 'Ghost Knight' . While reading this I was either laughing, sympathising with Longespee, cheering Ella and Jon or praying for the two lovers to be united at last. Cornelia Funke in her book 'Ghost Knight' again lives upto her name by making her readers spellbound. Kudos to one of my favourite writers for making my day and presenting her readers with such a great book as 'Ghost Knight'
